Welcome to Indians fighting Autism!!

My name is Smita Bhatt and I am dedicated to connecting Indians across America who struggle with Autism. My intentions of creating this support forum is to address both issues surrounding Autism as well as culturally sensitive topics..

In making the connections, I wish for families to find support, comfort, information and helpful resources. Moreover, I hope that families find a place of belonging and feel a sense of community. Making connections with others in similar situations with similar experiences will help to find strength and solace in their own lives.

To say a little about Autism, anyone can do a search on Autism and find out just about anything about the topic. So it’s a very well known fact that Autism is a behavior disorder, characterized by impairments in social communication, social interaction, and social imagination. Furthermore, it is a disorder that affects predominantly males. These days, pediatric clinics are flooded with children who eventually fall somewhere on the spectrum of disorders. There is no doubt that more and more clinical cases are being detected and the incidence of Autism still continues to escalate.

To mention a little about myself, I am the mother of two extraordinary boys who are also on the spectrum. They not only bring warmth and love to my life but also have brought inspiration and purpose. They are the reason I do what I do. My professional background is in both Clinical Medicine and Clinical Psychology. I am currently in midst of pursuing a Doctorate degree in Neuropsychology in hopes to help children and families
